Meet the Expert
Navigating HISD will be presented by Michele Pola, Ed.D. of the Houston Independent School District. Responsible for implementing the district’s strategic goals and objectives of the organization, Michele Pola, Ed.D., facilitates coordination and communication between the superintendent of schools and the direct reports. In addition, she oversees Board Services, Governmental Relations, and Policy Administration.
Dr. Pola first served in the Houston Independent School District for 20 years as an elementary-school teacher, early childhood Special Education resource teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She joined the staff of the Houston A+ Challenge in April 1999 from River Oaks Elementary School, where she had been principal since 1988. From 1999 until returning to HISD as chief of staff in 2007, Dr. Pola served as the executive director, associate director, and program director of the Houston A+ Challenge, a not-for-profit education organization working to build leadership capacity that results in higher student achievement.
